What means exactly one-of-a-kind products?

In short: what you see is exactly what you get. All the products in the shop are made one by one in my craft room. I made each paper used for the book covers and that means that they are really 100% unique: not a digital reproduction.

That means that I cannot order more items of the same product?

Usually I just make one item of each product (this is because of the handmade paper I use for the covers). In some cases, it is possible to order 2 or even 3 with the same paper design.

If you liked one specific product and you would like to order more from the same, please send me an e-mail with the product description or the picture, and I will get back to you and let you know if I can make more of it.

Why are your products “beautiful handmade imperfect”?

All the products listed on the shop are handmade. From cutting the paper, marbling or hand dyeing the covers and binding the final books… everything is made by me. No machines or automation play a role: just a one-woman-craft. Knowing that, you can imagine that my notebooks are not as perfect as one from a manufactory. But this beautiful imperfection is exactly what makes my books a unique and authentic product!

Why are just a few products in the shop? Will you add new products to the shop?

Indigo Craft Room stands for slow design and sustainable production. That means that I am just offering limited editions of my notebooks. However, I will try to add new products each week and keep creating beautiful things for you! So stay tuned!

Why are there notebooks with different stab binding designs and which Japanese binding is better?

The Japanese traditional binding is a minimal, elegant and strong binding technique. There are many different stab binding patterns, but in my shop you will find the most common ones: Yotsume toji (classic with 4 or 5 holes), Kangxi and Asa-no-ha toji. The last two are more decorative than the classic one. All of them are good and strong enough for daily use.

Can I open the Japanese notebook like a regular notebook?

The pages from the Japanese notebooks aren’t bound to the covers by the spine. That means that you cannot open these books as you would with a regular notebook, which can lay flat. Still you can write on both sides of the paper without problems.

What means “acid-free” paper and why is it fountain pen friendly?

Acid-free paper ensures a better preservation of the book for a long period. And it is also suitable for writing with fountain pen, since the paper won’t absorb as much ink as a non-acid-free paper would do.

Can I write on my notebook with a normal pen?

Of course! You can write with a normal pen, pencil, fountain pen, brush pens or fineliners…

Can I use the photo albums for other purposes?

For sure! The only limit is your own creativity! I am curious, so let me know what you are using it for.

Custom orders

How can I submit a custom order?

Please send me an e-mail with your request: which product you would like to order, colour or size variations, quantity, personalization (e.g. your name on the first page…). If you are ordering a notebook, you can also choose the Japanese stab binding pattern. I am all ears!

Can you also make other products apart from the ones on the shop?

Yes and no. It depends on what you are looking for. However, I like challenges, so just send me an e-mail and we will find out if I can make it!

How much it will my custom order cost?

Once we have clear which kind of product you would like to order (including all design and colour variations), I can determine the final price. If you order one of the products listed on the shop, but with a few variations extra (e.g. colours of the paper or binding), the final price shouldn’t vary much from the standard prices.

When will my custom order be delivered?

I can just determine the duration of the production after knowing which kind of product you would like to order. I will inform you about the estimated delivery time in advance.

Can I return my custom order?

All custom orders are out of the return policy. I kindly ask for your understanding.

Shopping cart, payment and shipping

Why can’t I add more items of the same product to my shopping cart?

Usually I just make one item of each product (this is because of the handmade paper I use for the covers). In some cases, it is possible to order 2 or even 3 with the same paper design.

If you cannot order more than one, it means that this is the only product on stock.

Send me an e-mail if you would like to order more items of the same product, and I will get back to you with an alternative.

To which countries do you ship your products?

Currently I am selling and shipping my products to The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Sweden and UK.

I can’t find my country in the shopping cart. How can I buy one of your products?

If you don’t live in one of the countries listed above, you won’t be able to place an order on my webshop. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested in ordering one of my products and I will get back to you with an alternative.

I live outside the EU, can I order your products?

Basically yes. However, I will need to have a look at the shipping costs and eventual customs declarations. Please send me an e-mail in order to clarify the situation.

How can I pay if I don’t have iDEAL, Sofort Banking or Credit Card?

I work with the payment provider Mollie and there are 3 different payment methods activated for my shop: iDEAL (mostly used in The Netherlands), Sofort Banking (e.g. available in Germany, Austria and Spain), and Credit Cards like Visa and Master Card.

If you still don’t have access to these payment methods, please contact me via e-mail and I will check what I can do for you.

Where can I activate my discount code?

Once you have placed an order on my shop (click the “Order” button next to a product), you will be redirected to the shopping cart. There choose your payment method, your shipping country and below you can enter your discount code and activate it by clicking on “Calculate discount”.

Is the discount code also valid for the shipping costs?

All discount codes are just applicable to the product price.

I live nearby Groningen, can I just pick up my order at your place?

Sure, this is possible! Once you have placed an order on my shop (click the “Order” button next to a product), you will be redirected to the shopping card. There choose your payment method and in the “Ship to” menu choose the option “Pick up Groningen”. After you have checked out, write a note on the comment section at the end of the order process. I will get back to you once your order is ready to pick up and we can make an appointment.
