Discover the traditional and meditative technique of painting on water: marble your own paper designs in your favourite colours and experiment with this art also known as suminagashi or ebru.
Traditional Marbling Techniques with a Modern Twist
Don't get scared by the word "traditional": My paper marbling technique is totally from this century! Marbling paper can be challenging, but I will teach you a practical way of doing it, so you can achieve high-quality paper designs in a very short time. During my marbling workshops, we will work with a bright and modern colour palette for a contemporary look.
Meditate by Creating Marbling Art
Marbling is my very art of meditation. The simple act of applying drops of paint over the marbling bath and seeing how the colours interact and mix with each other is satisfying and relaxing. When marbling, you lose some control over the piece of art you are creating. If you are a paper marbling master, you might get to reproduce more sheets of paper with the same design. But even so, each paper is a real one-of-a-kind piece of art. During my paper marbling workshops, I will show you how to create standard patterns. But you will also have the chance to explore your own creativity and create your very own designs.
Learning by Doing
That's my methodology! We will get our hands dirty in the process and learn from our own mistakes. All my marbling workshops are very practical. After a short introduction into the basic marbling tools and supplies, we will start creating step-by-step and answer all questions right away. After the workshop, you will have the option to contact me via e-mail for extra advice any time you need it!
